The Indian government spends $1.4 billion a year - on programs that include weighing newborn babies, counseling mothers on healthy eating and supplementing meals, but none of this is yeilding results. According to UNICEF, some 48% of Indian children, or 61 million kids, remain malnourished, the clinical condition of being so undernourished that their physical and mental growth are stunted.
