The boat clinic is seen on the banks of river Brahmaputra in Assam, India. The boat clinic was first started in 2005 by a non-government organisation, Centre for North-East Studies and Policy Research (C-NES), under public-private partnership with the government to provide health care facilities to geographically and socially excluded people living on these tiny islands. These boats conduct regular camps organised through a network of community health workers and organizers in every district. On board are fully fledged medical teams of two doctors, three nurses as well as lab technicians and pharmacists, and have space for an out-patients department, doctor's cabin, medicine chest, kitchen, toilet and a general store.
