Pregnant women wait to meet sister mary Elise (not in picture) and consult on pregnancy issues as part of the health consultancy camp provided by Fakirana Sisters Society in Chanayan bandh Musahar Tola Village, in Bettiah of West Champaran district in Bihar. Since 2008 the Foundation and Geneva Global have been investing in the training of medical staff to improve the lives of people living in 600+ villages in the region. The NGOs are delivering cost effective interventions to address treatment, care and prevention of diseases, disability and preventable deaths amongst infants, adolescent girls and women of child-bearing age. There is statistical and anecdotal evidence that there have been vast improvements and a total of 40-50% increased immunization for all children under 6 has meant that communities can be serviced and educated long term.
